Happy GRINCH Day!
We love any reason to celebrate in our room and since it's that time of year...today was Grinch Day! :)
We did what any student on Grinch Day would do... We read the book How The Grinch Stole Christmas and talked about how we would make the Grinch grin! :) Talk about heart melting! The students came up with some pretty sweet ideas like: giving him a hug, making him a cake, bringing him a present and inviting him over for dinner (That would be quite an interesting dinner)! Then, we made an art project using our ideas!
To make the Grinch grin I would___________.
During whole group reading we learned about adjectives and how they are descriptive words that describe a noun. We came up with some good adjectives to describe Mr. Grinch! Some of our favorites were grumpy, smelly, grouchy, hairy, green and mean.
We also went on a Grinchy -Ch word scavenger hunt. Miss Weeding had hid -ch word cards around the room and we had to find all of the words and then use them in a sentence. She was a good hider. Some of them were hard to find!!!
This afternoon we did a Grinch toss and take to practice our subtraction facts, followed by a Grinch number search. We just couldn't get enough of that Grinch today!
A celebration isn't complete without a snack. We had Grinch Juice and a yummy green cookie (We LOVE cookies!) while we watched the cartoon Grinch.
It was a fun (and green) day! We loved how Mr. Grinch finally learned how to be kind! It made our hearts feel happy!!!
We're hoping your hearts this holiday season are feeling full of LOVE and JOY, just like Mr. Grinch's!
